"Return to the Inner Sphere is impossible for us. Our heritage and our convictions are different from those we left behind. The greed of the five Great Houses and the Council Lords is a disease that can only be burned away by the passing of decades, even centuries. And though the fighting may seem to slow, or even cease, it will erupt again as long as there are powerful men to covet one another's wealth. We shall live apart, conserving all the good of the Star League and ridding ourselves of the bad, so that when we return, and return we shall, our shining moral character will be as much our shield as our BattleMechs and fighters."

- General Aleksandr Kerensky, General Order 137

The year is 2822. The Star League Defense Force is lost. The Descendants of the Star League Defense Force have risen from the ashes, and retaken the Pentagon Worlds in a bloody campaign. Where once the most powerful military force in the history of mankind stood, now stand the Clans: 20 in number, named for the vicious predators that will over time become their totem animals.

MekWars: Warriors of Kerensky provides a roleplay-encouraged, progressive environment where players may live out this period of history for the Clans and the Clan Homeworlds. This era of Classic Battletech is barely recorded, and as such you, the player-base, are welcomed to alter the course of Clan History. Our goal is to create a sort of a 'sandbox' where players may make decisions to grow their Clans as a team. Some of the exciting features we hope to offer are listed below.

  • Campaign "Feel" - Roleplay has a very specific meaning on Warriors of Kerensky. No roleplay is required of any individual player - it is possible to participate in the server without roleplaying. However, certain actions require roleplay. For example, Unit creation (Full Rules) requires that a non-canon unit have fluff attached to the design that explains the purpose of the machine, and the basics of its development. The Trial of Possession tasks (Described Here) require adherence to the Rules of Engagement. It should be noted that following the Rules of Engagement or Writing fluff for a 'mech is included in the definition of roleplay. For a more detailed description of Role Play on Warriors of Kerensky, check this link: RP Page.
  • Role Play Benefits - However, for those players that elect to participate in Role Play, there will be Role Play events ongoing a majority of the time involving special tasks on the server. Additionally, we have contrived a sort of a "bidding" process for some battles, and positive contribution to the Story of the Server on the forums will be rewarded - either by bonuses to the Clan as a whole or to the individual player. Note that the vast majority of the rewards for roleplaying above and beyond the minimal requirements of the server are personal in nature. A vast majority of these rewards for RP will not be handed out by the administration, but instead recognized by the community by utilizing the Circle of Equals. For full CoE provisions, see the forum: Circle of Equals Forum.

  • Advanced Parts Repair - In the time honored tradition of the Warriors of Kerensky, waste is discouraged. While machines may be pulled from the fabled Brian Caches, operational units often must be repaired from the carcasses of the vanquished and fallen.
  • Campaign Economy - In addition to the traditional MekWars payouts of money and reward points, Clan members may bank "Popular Support" to be spent by each Clan on things like technological advancement, Colonization, or even to design new units. For more information: Check the Popular Support page.
  • Every Game Matters - Every task varies in payout. Every task takes a small amount of land (to simulate the 'Might makes Right' mentality of the Clans), but there are tasks dedicated specifically to taking land, tasks that require the Rules of Engagement (Zellbrigen) be followed, tasks that are designed for Combined Arms, tasks that are designed for Aerospace. Further, the tasks differ in payout: Some return better individual rewards, some return better rewards that can be utilized by the Clan as a whole.
  • Immersive Gameplay - The Clans have seized the Pentagon, and now they look to triumph over each other. Clan members must work together to come up with not only strategic goals on the campaign map, but actually 'live the life' of a Clanner. In the beginning, this means small hangars (each Clan is only a Cluster) and games with little land exchange. As the Clans mature and expand - politically, technologically, and via colonization - these hard-coded restrictions will be replaced with simple economic restrictions. Once the Clans have grown, every player will be able to make a conscious choice: Large hangar with turnover due to inability to repair everything, or small hangar with little unit turnover.

  • "Sand Box" Server Design - The server is designed with a sandbox mentality. The rules are deliberately open and allow maximum player latitude. It is the hope of this administration that all players will strive for a positive server culture. To this end, the administration will only implement rules that prove necessary to prevent an ongoing pattern of abuse. In short, we reserve the right to add rules at any time if they are deemed necessary to promote a healthy server. So play nice, kids.
  • Open Administration: To begin, there will be few staff members. Staff will be selected from the playerbase as the game progresses, rather than chosen by the Administration on day one. This, combined with a vow that the staff will make an honest effort to be as transparent as possible in all decision making and the amount of control the players have in decisions about the course of the server will combine to give the players an unprecedented level of control in the actual gameplay of the server.
  • Self-Policing Community: A Circle of Equals shall be established where players are encouraged to actively reward and penalize behavior in other players on the server. All posting in the Circle of Equals shall be open and public - including votes. If utilized to its fullest by the playerbase, the Circle of Equals will be a very busy section of the forums, lending itself to creating a positive, fun MekWars server atmosphere.
