"Return to the Inner Sphere is impossible for us. Our heritage and our convictions are different from those we left behind. The greed of the five Great Houses and the Council Lords is a disease that can only be burned away by the passing of decades, even centuries. And though the fighting may seem to slow, or even cease, it will erupt again as long as there are powerful men to covet one another's wealth. We shall live apart, conserving all the good of the Star League and ridding ourselves of the bad, so that when we return, and return we shall, our shining moral character will be as much our shield as our BattleMechs and fighters."
- General Aleksandr Kerensky, General Order 137
"Knowing the Perils of Civil War and the Horror of it, ilKhan Nicholas Kerensky set about making combat itself an honorable means to reach a glorified end. In the Aftermath of the glorious reconquest of the Pentagon Worlds, Nicholas Kerensky declared the foundation for Clan warfare: The Six Trials of Combat."- Loremaster Galain Ward, Clan Wolf, Strana Mechty 3147
The year is 2822. The Inner Sphere is in chaos, with ancient rivalries and bigotry tearing it apart. The great light of the Cameron Star is all but extinguished, carried into the deep of space by the tattered remnants of the Star League Defense Force. These survivors of mankind's golden age found naught but turmoil. Insurrection, mutiny, chaos: watchwords of the day, they became facts of existence for the survivors of the Inner Sphere's tumultuous fall. Until the Son, Nicholas Kerensky turned the chaotic rabble into the most powerful war machines that had ever existed: the Clans.
Twenty in number and militaristic by nature, these Clans liberated the original Pentagon Worlds, taking back what chaos had stolen from them. In these five worlds the Clans hold the key to the Hidden Hope of humanity: the return of the Star League to its rightful place. All was according to plan. Twenty Clans, where strength of arms and courage under fire are honored above all else. Then the accident happened.
It was a training exercise, of all things. A blown knee, a falling Atlas II. ilKhan Nicholas Kerensky, founder of the Clans, suffered near blindness in his right eye. Technically able to fight, he nevertheless was forced - ironically under the very rules he himself created for the Clans - to step aside as leader of Clan Wolf. In his honor, the post of ilKhan has remained empty to this day. The only challenger, a young Warrior whom time shall forget, was challenged as to his own status as a warrior and executed in a Trial of Grievance by a member of the Ebon Keshik. The Katyusha Keshik - the ilKhan's own guards - and the Ebon Keshik - comprised of the majority of what few special operations troopers remain - guard vigil over the waning days of Nicholas Kerensky's life.
As long as he lives, there will be no new ilKhan. Nicholas Kerensky, spiritual leader of the Clans, may not be fit to lead them it war, but he is the heart of what it is to be Clan. He is the courageous founder, bringing order to chaos. Where his children, the Warriors of Kerensky, will go is another matter. Who will dominate the skies? Who will quake the ground? Who will come to dominance, seizing for themselves the mantle of ilClan, first among equals? Only you may decide that, on the forums and MekWars server of Warriors of Kerensky.
